Who we are?

Rescued Memories is a small Company based in Somerset. It specialises in the production of digital audio biographies for individuals. In essence we produce a professionally recorded and edited CD of the customer telling the story of their life in their own words.

Why rescue the memory?

We believe that people have so many fascinating facts and funny or interesting memories which are lost forever if no one saves them. We believe there is a demand for a service that rescues these memories. The idea seems to have caught the imagination of many customers already, who recognise the particular delight for family members, or friends, to listen to the individual telling their story in their own words. They also see the idea as a great Birthday or Christmas present for an older member of the family who has led a full and fascinating life.

How do we rescue the memory?

Following a booking our initial step is to have a telephone conversation with the client, establishing a little bit of their background and what aspects of their lives they would particularly like recorded. During this telephone call we will also agree with them a convenient time and place to conduct the interview. We will then usually visit them in the comfort and convenience of their own home and during an informal interview record the individual as they recount their life story. We have large number of questions to ask to help this process along and make it easy for the memories to flow. As a guide an interview will normally take between 2 - 4 hours. All our interviewing personnel have been CRB checked. Following the interview we will then produce one or more CDs, which capture the customers life story in their own words. This is then packaged in a presentation case before subsequent posting to the customer.

What do we Charge?

Each smartly packaged CD with 80 minutes of edited biography will cost £85. You are then free to make as many further copies of this CD as you wish. We would be happy to make additional copies on your behalf for a further £5 per CD. A travel charge of 40 pence per mile will be charged in addition if the customers residence is more than 10 miles from our office. When the CD or CDs are ready we will issue an invoice and the disc or discs will be issued on receipt of payment. What equipment do we use? We use a top of the range Sony Digital Voice Recorder (ICD-UX80) to record the interview and Sony Audio Studio editing and production software to create the CD. This will allow the CD to be played on any standard CD player or even through your televisions DVD player.
